Highest degree and school:

MS, Criminal Justice, Saint Leo University

Teaching at SDI since: 2021

Eric Sherouse is a lead faculty for the School of Firearms Technology, where he instructs the Introduction to Ammunition and Basic Ballistics course. Prior to joining SDI full time, he spent over twenty years working various roles in the criminal justice field, including serving as a police officer, a supervisor for investigations, crime scenes, and evidence sections, and instructing field training classes. In addition to his master’s degree in forensic science and criminal justice administration from Saint Leo University, Eric also holds certifications in public management from Florida State University and in online teaching from Duke University.

Eric says the greatest reward for any teacher is seeing our students reach their educational goals. He came to SDI because, as he puts it, “I have always enjoyed working with the adult learner who is working to attain their career goals. SDI offers the opportunity to work with a unique student body which is highly focused on learning the skills needed to excel in their respective firearms careers.” He says the best part of teaching is seeing the excitement when students make connections between the real world and the content they are learning in class.

A lifelong Floridian, Eric is an avid fisherman and enjoys riding ATVs with his family. His idea of a perfect day is being outdoors where the scenery is nice and the weather is enjoyable; “I want to be on an adventure, with no real destination in mind and no cell phone or laptop in tow!” His next educational goal is to conquer the Spanish language and become a fluent speaker at the street-level.
