SDI offers online programs that provide students with a hands-on education in the firearms and uncrewed technology industries.

The Associate of Science in Firearms Technology degree program offers SDI students the opportunity to gain a complete understanding of firearms technology and how to navigate the unique and exciting firearms industry without having to travel or relocate. This 60-semester-hour program is the most comprehensive of SDI’s programs, and is one of only a handful of firearms-specific degree programs in the nation.

The Associate of Science in Uncrewed Technology program at Sonoran Desert Institute offers a dynamic and comprehensive education for those passionate about the rapidly growing uncrewed aircraft systems field. This program combines theoretical knowledge with practical skills, preparing students for various commercial, public service, and military roles. Our mix of online and hands-on classes allows students to learn and practice efficiently and conveniently.

For students looking to hone their gunsmithing skills, learn the techniques needed to operate a gunsmithing business, gain a valuable credential or expand their hobby into a career, SDI’s Certificate in Firearms Technology – Gunsmithing program is a great fit. In this 32-credit program, you’ll learn gunsmithing techniques and practices, shooting sports management, and more—you’ll also complete a build of your choice.

The Certificate in Firearms Technology – Handgun Specialist is a comprehensive exploration into pistols and revolvers. Concepts studied include the mechanism and cycle of operations, assembly and disassembly techniques, diagnostic and troubleshooting strategies, and methods to improve the functionality and aesthetics of handguns. This is a 16-credit hour program and consists of one accelerated, discipline-specific semester.

The Certificate in Uncrewed Technology – Aerial Systems program provides students with a solid foundation of historical, technical, and operational knowledge about uncrewed aircraft systems. Students learn how uncrewed aircraft systems are used by commercial businesses to make their operations more efficient, cost effective, and safer.
