Thomas Jefferson once said, “No free man shall ever be debarred the use of arms.” And nowhere was that sentiment defended more fervently and passionately than at the recent 2016 NRA Annual Meeting held in Louisville, KY.
The NRA Annual Meeting covered over seven acres of more than 700 exhibitors featuring spectacular firearms displays, high-tech shooting and hunting gear, and priceless gun collections, as well exclusive seminars by the world’s most renowned industry professionals. The exhibits were free to all current NRA members, uniformed military, law enforcement personnel, and organized youth groups.
“The NRA show was a great opportunity for SDI team members to showcase our school’s unprecedented growth and expanding firearm technology curriculum among the top leaders and decision-makers in the industry,” said SDI Executive Director of Strategic Development, Wes LeMay. “We met with many new businesses and organizations at the show and we are looking forward to creating new partnerships that will help us provide our students with the most relevant and up-to-date information as well as career opportunities after graduation.”
At the show, SDI hosted several autograph sessions featuring Tim Harmsen, an SDI Business Development Team member who runs the Military Arms Channel, Hickcock 45, and SDI Instructor Dave Nash, well-known on YouTube as famed master trick shooter 22 Plinkster.
SDI also provided educational opportunities for NRA members by hosting instructional events at its booth. ATF expert and SDI Advisory Board member Dan O’Kelly of the International Firearm Specialist Academy (www.GunLearn.com) drew a crowd as he gave several short lectures about firearm classification.
“As fun and informative as the NRA show was this year, one of the most rewarding experiences was seeing the reactions of our students,” added LeMay. “We had countless former, current, and incoming students visit us this year at the NRA show, and it was great to get their feedback on our curriculum and courses. It was fantastic to see the excitement of those incoming students who are about to start their new careers in the firearms industry.”
